Everything You Need to Know About Non-Descent Vaginal Hysterectomy

Non-Descent Vaginal Hysterectomy is a very important surgery that many women are unaware of. Here is everything you need to know about it.

Non-descent vaginal hysterectomy is the process where you remove the uterus from a woman’s body through the vagina instead of the abdomen. Not many people know about this surgery but there needs to be more awareness about this. Here is what a gynecologist in West Delhi has to say about it.

Hysterectomy is a major operation like any other surgery.  They usually recommend NDVH in conditions where non-surgical treatments were of no use and to women who do not want any more children.

Types of NDVH:

NDVH are of two different types like:

  • Total Hysterectomy: This is when they remove the uterus and cervix.
  • Subtotal Hysterectomy: This is when they only remove the uterus.

The Procedure of this Surgery:

If any doctor recommends hysterectomy, then there are three ways to perform it. You can do it abdominally, vaginally and laparoscopically.

  • Abdominal:- When you go for an open abdominal hysterectomy, they draw out the organs by making cuts and incisions on the abdomen.
  • Vaginally:–  Doctors usually recommend vaginal hysterectomy in the case of uterine prolapse. This means that the uterus is descending into the vagina.  You can go for NDVH if there is not a case of uterine-prolapse.
  • Laparoscopically:– A  laparoscopic hysterectomy is when they use laparoscopic instruments to remove the uterus through small incisions.

Which One Is the Safest?

One of the safest choices and the best one is to perform a vaginal hysterectomy if possible. It is the best way to remove your uterus as there is no need to make cuts or incisions. But, if it is not possible then one can opt for the laparoscopic route. This is the next best choice as the cuts and incisions are very small.  They recommend an open surgery if you have a history of the ovarian disease and the uterus is very large.

The Benefits of NDVH:

NDVH  is a painless and smooth procedure that falls under gynecology. The benefits of NDVH are:
